The next Nintendo DS in the works - will come with HD output and motion sensor

dshdWhile there are rumors of a "technological monster" in the form of the PSP2, Nintendo has a monster of handheld of its own in the works. They're not about to let a possible PSP2 dominate the handheld market - the next Nintendo DS will come equipped with HD and motion-sensing capabilities.

That nVidia deal might just turn out to be true after all. Japanese news site Asahi.com got word from Satoru Iwata himself, and the Ninty big chief has confirmed that the next DS is indeed in the works and is gonna be larger than the DSi LL, not literally. Iwata-san, however, has yet to give a release target, so we'll stick to imagining HD and motion control on a handheld for now.

sounds interesting, technology-wise.. but i'm very skeptical about the idea of a motion sensor on a handheld..

Motion sensing on a handheld.... Must've never heard of Apple, or their little devices iPhone and iPod Touch. Motion sensing on a handheld works very well, though a touch screen is iffy. Nintendo has done it well with the DSes but thankfully include tactile buttons. HD is pointless on a such a small screen unless they mean the pixel count and qualty of the LED is going to be more like, say the iPhone.

i was thinking along the lines of Wii-like games, but then i suppose that's out of the question for DS..

lets not forget Kirby Tilt'n'Tumble, maybe it'll be that kind of motion sensing.

What? You can't imagine Monkeyball with it's motions sensing on a DS?

Child's play! Literally! LOL

The options are as open as the iPhone itself. I'm suprised whoever wrote this article even brought up the PSP2. This is all about Nintendo making up for the loss of marketshare with the iPhone.

I'd love to play Super Monkey Ball on a DS like that, thanks for the idea ISO!

Is there really any point in buying the latest DS when Nintendo are churning out new versions yearly or close to?

Motion sensor...:| I hate how they abuse that on the Wii and make some awesome games into crap.

new ds? i hate the fact they produce more and more ds with upgrade capabilities in short time. its made those who buying the current gen regret to buying it. But i think you can just sell your current ds once the new one come out.
