The DS Brings Nintendo its Highest Profits in Five Years! |
Ó
sell 10 million units in the region by the end of
the year - suggesting that global sales could be as high as 30 million
units, if growth continues at that rate in other territories as well. I'm glad to see Nintendo coming back as the original NES introduced me into this life of Gaming and could not be more thankful, I've owned every one of their consoles that have come to these shores and still have a Virtual Boy in my closet to this day.
The DS, which has such great games as Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime Hunters seems as if the games can only get better with the New Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass coming this year. I look forward to what Nintendo will have to offer in the next couple of years and am very willing to give them my hard earned cash.

I guess since just rehashing a new version of the gameboy wasn't getting many people to keep upgrading every year (duh) when they finally make a true update to their platform it's quite a success. However I am afraid this is only temporary.
These are some of the kiddies who are replacing their existing gameboys. I would be trembling If I was Nintendo. With gamers yearning for "cooler gadgets" (PSP and ipod for example) they might be dethrone sooner than they think. If it weren't for the cheap price and name branding (those japs love their pokemon) the DS would really be suffering right now but they made a smart move at not trying to compete directly. They aim at a different market (younger, female and N fanboy gamers). Unfortunately as it happens with all things that become mainstream you have to be cool or die trying (see Creative products or DS lite).
I see the DS outgunning the PSP for the next 1.5 years until PS3 gets going. Then, how should I say it, "let get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeee".
