Chrono Trigger Famitsu - Image 1

Yes, you read the title right. Chrono Trigger. For the DS. We just found scraps of evidences that lead to this very fact, and they seem to be credible enough. First is Squaresoft's teaser site for the game, featuring the Nintendo DS logo in the foreground and a slowly-ticking clock in the back. In keeping with the Chrono theme, indeed.

One thing isn't clear, however; will this be a 3D-fied port of the original Chrono Trigger for the SNES, or will this be a sequel of sorts? Sure, the image above (courtesy of Kotaku) spells "Chrono Trigger," but there's always a slight chance that there's a subtitle to the name, like Chrono Trigger DS: Oh No, It's Alive! or such, indicating that it's a whole new game with a new storyline.

The Famitsu scan above was provided to Kotaku, and it reportedly confirms that a certain Chrono Trigger DS will be released in Japan this coming winter. That's just about the only (vague) details that we have on our hands, but let's not worry about that right now. What's important is that yes, there's a big, BIG chance that we're going to have another dose of awesomeness for the Nintendo DS.

We're going to (reluctantly) peg this as a rumor for now, since we haven't received any solid confirmation about this tidbit. Check this space for more updates!
