Tetsuya Nomura plans all new worlds for Kingdom Hearts 3DS

kh3ds Let's see now...outside the KH1 and 2, there's Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days, Re:coded, plus Chain of Memories. There's a steadily growing number of KH games now, so you have to wonder what else could Square Enix could squeeze into the storyline. Will the 3DS release simply be a 3D rehash of these titles? Or will it be a new game entirely? Good news, it's the latter.

Famitsu quizzed game director Tetsuya Nomura about the different worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3DS, asking if players will be seeing the same worlds. "No," he replied. "except for original worlds and Traverse Town. We plan to make all new Disney worlds." As for which worlds these will be, the development team is still in the process of selecting suitable ones.

Kingdom Hearts 3DS will have both Sora and Riku as protagonists. A screenshot from E3 2010 shows both Keyblade wielders (pictured above) together in their younger selves. Nomura isn't telling why the two are back to the preteen years, but he did tease that "Perhaps, the ending of Kingdom Hearts 3DS will continue in Kingdom Hearts III."

That's about it, but Tetsuya Nomura promises more info about Kingdom Hearts 3DS in the near future.

They're still SELECTING the worlds of the game?

So... technically... the game isn't even REALLY in development yet? Like, still in the planning phase?!?

Did they hear about the 3DS, wanting to make SOME KH game, not really knowing what to put in there, maybe just a few chunks of story for SOME future KH games, and then threw together that teaser they were showing?
And only after that they really started planning the actual game?

Wow... it will probably be 3-4 years until this actually sees the light of day... Knowing Nomura, it wouldn't surprise me. If it's not even longer than that.

Not that it bugs me THAT much, personally, since I won't even be able to afford a 3DS for quite some time. So I can wait. But I feel sorry for the people who do get one day one, partly for KH.

Getting all new worlds is great to hear, though. I was really getting sick of all those rehashes. Re: Coded is stretching it already.

Your also forgetting the many projects he's involved in, a small list but not limited to, The 3rd Birthday, Dissidia Duodecium, FF Versus, FF Agito, KH:Re:Coded (international) , and even dealing contracts with Capcom. Your say he's slow? It's one person and when it comes to Kingdom Hearts, he runs the show since he the main producer AND character artist.

That's not really what I was saying.
Just, usually, when you reveal a game, you're already far into development. But this sounds like they are still in the planing phase.

And actually, no. It's not "one person".
He might be the most important person there, but yeah... You get what I mean.

i'd like the disney-pixar characters to be in KH, but i'd rather have them in KH3

Who says this isn't KH3?
When Nomura implied things like that, who knows if he himself really knew for sure?

Anyway, I'd like some Pixar worlds as well. Well, I trust the team could make something good with any movie, as long as they stay away from music inspired worlds/gameplay.
But there are still some I wouldn't really like that much. Like... Cars. Sure, it might be kinda funny for a moment if Sora transformed into a car but, meh... wouldn't it be more awkward than funny?

But Toy Story, for instance, could be really great! I mean, especially if Sora would adapt to the style of that world. That is something I would like to see some more, anyways. Just like they adapted to Halloween Town, for example.

But I sure hope there won't be any Marvel related things mixing into the franchise. Marvel is Disney now, isn't it? So technically, it would be possible.
But I don't think it would fit so I'd rather keep those separate.

Kingdom hearts seeems to be such a expensive series, require a ps2, psp, gba, ds, and in the future, DSI

The storyline of KH is becoming an inclined plane wrapped helically around an axis (screwed) so many twists, turns and catches that they need to keep releasing filler games to stick it all together, sure it's good to have it all fleshed out and to join the main games together but hurry up with KH3 already, I want my high def Kingdom Hearts on PS3!

I wonder if Nomura will end up making kingdom hearts on the wii? (eg III) because the relationship between nintendo and him is probably starting to get bigger.

It would be a real shocked to see KH on xbox
