Spoiler alert: Castlevania movie adaptation plot revealed - Image 1

Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. It is also on that same report that we learned that film outfit Rogue Pictures wants a full revamp of the script.

Prior to all this, it was believed that the story of the Castlevania movie project will revolve around a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. Well, you can all forget about that as the official plot of the movie has just been revealed.

Before we give you the synopsis, let us say at this point that we are rather happy that the original storyline was revamped. We are all in love with Konami's Castlevania video game franchise and veering too far way from that will likely break our hearts.

Anyway, with all those said, we give you now the plot of the Castlevania movie adaptation:

It is the year 169. The land of Transylvania has been at peace for 100 years now, and the peasants and villagers have begun to purge their minds of the memories of the times when the lands were dominated by chaos and shadows, and when the undead walked the earth.

However, there are those that remember that the evil Count Dracula returns every 100 years to plague the land, bringing with him the forces of Hell. Thus, one evening, the Prince of Darkness rises and returns to Castlevania, his ancestral home, calling forth his minions to purge the world of human flesh.

The people cry out for a hero - someone to defend them from the evil desires of the count. Thankfully, they don't have to look very far, for within the land of Transylvania the Belmont line still lives, as Simon Belmont, great-grandson of Christopher Belmont, takes up the legendary whip called the Vampire Killer, and sets forth on his journey through the darkened countryside to the dark lord's castle.

Upon arrival, the young man fights his way through legions of zombies, gigantic bats, and even faces Death himself, but in the end, he makes it to the Count and in a battle to end all battles, he comes out the victor. The price? The evil master places a curse of death upon Simon, which will lead him into a long and dangerous journey in the very near future.

» Ooohhh Yeeaahhh!

Thats the way it should be. I just hope they find the right actors and don't make the movie cheap and cheesy. If done correctly this could be a big blockbuster. I can't wait to see the results.

This movie is going to be a huge pile of crap.

Anything that this Paul W.S. Anderson touch becomes *****, it is so sad that such a great franchise will end up on another bad adaptation.

Game studios should ban Paul W.S. Anderson to get near any game story.

» I agree with devilish.

The best videogame to movie so far has been silent hill, I seriously doubt that now is the right time for a Castlevania movie. I'm just glad they didn't let that Uwe Boll(sp?) fellow anywhere near this one.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Wow, I didn't know that anybody actually liked Silent Hill. But hey, if you liked it, it's all good. Does anybody think that "Van Helsing" was actually like a Caslevania movie? I mean he didn't have a whip, but there was Frankenstien's Monster, Werewolves, and Dracula. I thought it was a pretty decent flick.

I just hope that they don't base this movie only on special effects, but also spend time perfecting the dialog, mood, musical composition, and story of the movie as well. Anybody have any ideas who would be Simon Belmont?

I'm also glad that they are making this movie based on the first NES Castlevania game, instead of the newer titles.

» Halo Anyone?

Why don't anyone believe in the Halo Movie the way others believe in other game to movie movies. :(

Oh well, this one will be a good movie if done right.

» Haha, Dialogue....

Anyone play Symphony of the Night? The dialogue was terrible, and was the voice acting! If they make it cheesy, it'd only fit the game itself. Silent Hill was a great movie, but the best-performing game-to-movie is Resident Evil, as everyone knows. I hope they do a good job with this one, for sure.

I do believe Halo is going to be a movie very well done. Just look who is going to do it !!! With Peter Jackson producing it, i´m sure he will get inside halo universe and get the best of it.

But this Paul W.S Anderson is just a disgrace, judging by his last game to movies translation in his career: "Resident Evil, Dead or alive, Alien Vs Predator, Mortal Kombat". I´m pretty sure that this movie will be awful.

The most disappointed game to movie translation in my opinion is Resident Evil, this movie would be amazing if George Romero did it.

Castlevania deserved something at his level. Imagine this movie done by Francis Ford Coppola, would be a potential Oscar winner for Best Movie.

Forget about that monster list!!!

put Succubus right now straight into the movie!!!

and Galamoth fight would be REALLY wicked!!!!

Akmodan too (I dont remember well, but did SOTN had a boss called Akmodan II?)

The hell Warg, and Doppleganger!

wait, is this going to stick to original games like, hitting a candle to get hearts or weapons XD hahahaha or how does the hero get the extra weapons... or will the movie be straight-whip-hack-n-slash?

Wait!!!!

****SPOILER ALERT****

Is this the game where simon kills the count, but a curse is laid upon him so he has to gather the count parts to revive

him then kill him again to set himself free out of the curse?

then this movie might be interesting, unlike almost all castlevania games where all ends killing dracula, this one has to revive dracula to kill him again... just interesting

» Hey yo

I bet hes not gonna put any of the famous villains from the Castlevania games into the movie cause he never does put any famous monters and such into every movie he makes, especcially Resident Evil and Silent Hill the movie is actually lovable.

Cause atleast Silent Hill story stuck to the original games plot except for the end, while Paul Anderson just screws every series up into something else like Resident Evil movies has Alice as the main character and shes in every RE movie and they made Nemesis into a good guy, and they barely even show any of the good monsters from Resident Evil game series into the movies like Hunters, TRUE TYRANT that doesnt look screwed up like in the 3rd movie, and all of the awesome monsters from the series.

Plus RE movies arent really good compared to the Silent Hill 1 movie, atleast that is alot better.

While I agree that bad dialog and Symphony of the Night go hand in hand, but for a major motion picture, majority of the audience (As well as movie critics) will not make this correlation. So if the bad dialog exists, all it takes is the "New York Times" and "Roger and Ebert" to give it two thumbs down and majority of the population will ignore it. Remember the movie business is very tricky, and the key of video game movie success is to identify these before production. Again I agree that Resident Evil was my favorite game-to-movie, but it also moved away from the game, and didn't include the awful RE1 dialog. The key is to try to reach middle ground when attempting to please the gaming fanboys, and movie lovers, as well as casual movie audience.
