Sony's at it again, hisses at DSi on eve of its release |

Is Sony trying to start a hissy handheld catfight? Well whatever their
intent may be, it seems that there won't be anything that'll keep
Nintendo's eyebrows from being raised after yet another controversial
PR statement from Sony, right before the release of their newest baby in the US.Here it is, in all its corporate angst:
If Nintendo is really committed to reaching a broader, more diverse audience of gamers beyond the "kids" market that they've always engaged, there isn't much new with the DSi to support that. Significant gamer demographic groups are being ignored, and there continues to be limited opportunities for games from external publishers to do well on the DSi. Compare that with the PSP platform, where we have many blockbuster franchises from our publishing partners launching this year, representing a wide variety of genres and targeting diverse demographics. Games such as Rock Band Unplugged from MTV Games, Assassin's Creed from Ubisoft, Dissidia Final Fantasy from Square Enix, and Hannah Montana from Disney demonstrate the commitment that publishers have to the PSP. From our own first-party studios, we're launching unique versions of LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm, and we're also planning a steady stream of downloadable games -- both new titles and PSone classics -- to add to the content that PSP owners can already purchase wirelessly through PlayStation Store.
What's up with Sony PR? This is just like the shoddy machines and add-on peddling comments from February. It'd be interesting how Nintendo would respond to this one, seeing as they sold nearly twice as many DS units than Sony did PSPs. Hang on to your flame-worn seats.

That part really helps that statement.

I mean, different consoles are subject to different kinds of people such as Nintendo systems being a more casual and less pricey platform. Ah well, I suppose system wars is what keeps the companies going.

The DS basically does more than the PSP now for the same price. Sony should be worried.

What sucks about the DSi is no GBA Slot so I'm keeping my lite. I need to mirgrate my pokemon you see lol.
I only have like 18 DS games which is pretty much the same amount as my PSP because a lot of other games don't attract me with their low ratings.
The DSi doesn't do more... it can't even read mp3 file formats. Remember that the PSP has homebrew and all the customization and the DS has only a flash cart.

So childish.

It's all about what you want as a consumer.
Don't let others discourage you from getting what you want.

I know it comes down to taste, but when it comes to diversity and what they're achieving, no doubt PSP, the first Portable handheld that is actually giving 'competition' to the handheld market and Nintendo, PSP is actually doing a far better job. But as I said, DS in my eyes is for kids. Plain and simple. And as a gamer where there needs to be a certain limit to graphics, I cannot bring myself to play a DS. I'm sorry to all the Nintendo fans, I'm still a big one myself(grew up with them) but Nintendo needs to up it's graphical performance in order for me to say it's better than PSP. I still believe it's an underrated and under appreciated system.

Assassin's Creed: This will TOTALLY be a perfect port.
Dissidia Final Fantasy: We had FFans bagged all along so why not?
Hannah Montana: Because very nine year old girl has a PSP.
LittleBigPlanet : HOPE it's not just a LBP themed platformer without the custom levels (PS3/PSP connectivity would be great).
MotorStorm: How about Gran Turismo Portable instead you pricks? The sole reason I decided to get a PSP was the promise of this game.
While the DSi is a complete ripoff for the consumers which has already proven that it's built in camera is too low quality for the use of gaming (see Utsusu! Made in Wario), too many fanboys and major developers love the GBA slot, and it's multimedia function is petty at best, Sony's position of attack is ludicrous. All of the listed game's targeted demographics (with the exception of Sony fanboys) are already covered on the DS in spades (well, not so much action games...)!
RSS, internet radio, Flash support, streaming TV, Skype, Go!Messenger... not once have I (or many other people) used any of these things aside from Flash, which the PSP can't handle too well. Hell, most people with a PSP typically carry with them an Ipod (boggles my mind personally) which is capable of music and video, negating yet another two of the PSP's advantages. I use my PSP primarily for the Monster Hunter series, emulation, and for it's multimedia functions, but for a vast percentage of the demographic, this is all very unusual behavior. At this point the only thing keeping the PSP afloat with the masses are boys insecure about their masculinity and Sony's self-declared worst enemy, the homebrew community.
For all of the "hardcore" gamers out there who pride polygons/textures and explicit blood/gore above all else, can you honestly say you're more hardcore than the average roguelike fan?
