DS-PSPThe research firm, NPD Group, provides consumers a low down of what's happening in the market. From general trends to category specific statistics, NPD collects and tallies information from manufacturers and retailers. The emerging videogame market is of course within the group's scope of study and they even reported that last September could be the best month for the industry.

While October also saw an overall increase, it is not as impressive as September's, said NPD recently. The software sales just experienced a 1% increase to U.S. $ 369 million. But with the inclusion of hardware and peripherals, the total industry sales wouldn't look so disappointing as it was able to rack a 16% increase (U.S. $ 642 million).

When it comes to software, sales were still dominated by Sony with Vivendi's Scarface (PS2) and Madden '07 (PS2) coming in at first and third place, respectively. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, the only next-gen title included in the list, was at second place.

On the other hand, hardware sales were dominated by Nintendo's handheld, the DS which sold 360,000 units for October alone. The success is attributed to the continuous demands for the DS Lite. Xbox 360 sold a little below 220,000 units and around 170,000 GBA units were bought.  The PSP, who was not able to break the 130,000 mark, came in fourth place. These are just numbers as of now and, as we are all aware, industry analysts would be able to come up with their commentaries a few days from now, so let's watch out for that.

Im sory but Psps games are worthless and not because they suck its not suprising ds is destroying it. I doubt metal gear and the Gta games or anything els is gonna save psp. Its simpley because all those awsome games will come out for Psp and then they will be ported to ps2 and then everyone will just go out and get the ps2 version of the game and ignore the Psp version or it will be the other way around where awsome games from ps2 are ported to psp and everyone ignores the psp version and buys the ps2 one. Thats y psp games are worthless also its not realy the ds destroying psp its the ps2 if you think about it.

I'm not surprised they didn't post this on the PSP channel, otherwise it would be full of "DS is for teh kiddiez, PSP rox" comments from sour PSP owners.
