Sega Europe to follow suit on Vivendi-Activision merger |
Ó

As we all know, publisher Activision has signed a merger with publisher Vivendi Games, and that the union of both companies will give birth to Activision Blizzard by 2008. In light of this, Sega Europe's head honcho Mike Hayes has announced that the said company is already hinting at potential mergers with their rival developers and publishers
According to Hayes, the continuous progress in the gaming industry is a must. To keep up with the pace, publishers search for ways to strengthen their companies and further their growth rates. So actions such as new product and company signings as well as mass personnel hiring is always welcomed. Hiring, for one, is one activity Sega has been exercising well after stepping up efforts to build up in Europe, said Hayes.
As Sega climbs onto new heights, it seems that the company has no plans on sitting on it's laurels with the success of their latest titles for the the major next-generation platforms and handhelds. Their latest game for the Nintendo DS, Sonic Rush, continues to rake stellar sales in Europe.
Hayes says the company's "establishment strategy" for the European studios is nearly complete. But he hinted that Sega is still on the look-out for more key staff to add to their roster to finally get the proverbial ball rolling, and another well-known developer studio or publisher could just be their next target. More on this as we get them.
