Chousoujuu Mecha MGIf you guys liked Robot Alchemic Drive for the PS2 or are a fan of mecha action then you might want to check out Chousoujuu Mecha MG, the new Nintendo DS title being prepared by Sandlot, the makers of RAD.

Chousoujuu Mecha MG will put players behind the controls of 30-meter-tall mechs called "Mario Nation Gears". Weird name, but these things look like they pack quite a wallop. With over a hundred different mech varieties, one can get lost in trying out all the mechs in this game. And not all of them are like your typical garden-variety humanoid mech, either. Some are insectoid, some have wheels for legs, and some have the ability to transform. The mechs also carry a variety of weapons ranging from the rather primitive-sounding bow and arrow (but remember: it's a MECH bow and arrow, so it's gotta be, like, advanced and stuff) to firearms.

The different types of mechs leads to a variable control system where the controls depend on which type of mech you are using. Makes sense really. I mean, you can't expect a Zaku to pilot exactly like a Veritech when they don't even look alike, right? The NDS's top screen will show the game's full 3d graphics while the bottom screen will act as the control pad and will be operated using the NDS's touch pen.

I've mentioned earlier that some mechs in Chousoujuu Mecha MG have the ability to transform. These will be quite useful in some stages of the game. Players will not only have to crush their mechanized enemies beneath their huge metal feet (or wheels), they will also have a chance to race other mechs or transport stuff. Picking the right mech for these missions is an important aspect of the game. Personally speaking, though, if I had a 30-meter-tall robotic engine of destruction I'd definitely put it to better use than turning it into a UPS truck.

Do check this game out. Chousoujuu Mecha MG is scheduled for release in Japan on September 2 at a price of 4,800 yen ($41). Extra special thanks to Badam for sending us this lead.
