Rumor: Pokemon Gold and Silver getting remakes?

Pokemon Sunday - Image 1Japanese TV show Pokemon Sunday dropped a rumor-sparking bomb when they announced that they'll be announcing an exclusive world-first announcement on May 10th during the show's Pokemon Game Arena segment. Yet another announcement announcing an announcement.

At any rate, what sparked the rumor was the conspicuous use and colors of their big confetti balls - colors that stand for two of the best Pokemon versions made.

Although the announcement didn't say much else, the spherical decorations in the show just might point to Pokemon Gold and Silver. Since the announcement will be made in the Game Arena segment, it's definitely a game. Poke-experts at the Pokebeach also believe that there's nothing major left to announce about Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, leaving the two wide open.

Also interesting to note is that by November of this year, the two titles will have their 10th anniversary, and what a fitting tribute for the Pokegames it would be to get remakes.

I remember playing Pokemon Silver for the longest time .. Not as long as Pokemon Red, mind you, but mann it was such a great expansion. And the compatibility between the games.. ohh.

I used to call Funcoland every single day asking when it would be released. I'll never forget it.. There was one guy where if he answered and heard me he would just hang up and I would call the Software Etc. in the mall.. I was so young!!

REMAKE PLEASSE

There hasn't been a Pokemon a game as good as Gold, Silver and Crystal. 2 regions was the best thing they ever thought of and including a battle with Ash aka Red. I want to beat the crap out of that Level 80 Pikachu again.

My only hope is that they don't cut the game short and get rid of the Kanto region.

Haha. As long as they can market those franchises to new children, then never! Anyways, I wouldn't joke so much if Nintendo did the Pokemon games justice. With the wii they could do something better, like giving the games a new 3d battle system. And by that I mean, no more turn-based swap-a-mania battles due to attribute weaknesses. An online type thing would work too. Buuut they see higher profits in rehash, reuse, repeat, I guess. Why people get hardons for Pokemon is beyond me. *shrugs*

If this is what it looks like, then all I've got to say is Pokemon Shiny Gold got there first.

I hope some day they make a Pokemon game including every region and the ability to get all the pokemon (give or take a few for separate versions) without jumping through hoops to hook up to old versions via link cables and all that *cough*diamond/pearl/platinum*cough* ...

They could just call it Pokemon World or something...I would buy it and love it.

I loved Gold and Silver (and Crystal) because you could go to two different regions with more Pokemon and more Gyms to tackle. It baffles me that they ditched that format in the later games. If they do remake them then I would definitely look into them simply because I've been playing the games since elementary school.

I think that remaking Gold and Silver would be an amazing idea and i think that a great way to do it would be to make them into DSiWare that you can download from the DSi Store. i think that would make them alot of cash and would be really convenient because we could store the data on our DS's. No need for cartridges.
