KekkaishiIf you're a big anime fan, this might be one of the breaking news (if it IS true, that is) that'll jumpstart your 2007 with a bang.

According to GameFront, Namco Bandai has announced that it is currently developing an action game for the DS called Kekkaishi, which will be based largely on the anime series of the same name.

For those unfamiliar with the series, "Kekkaishi" is basically about a 14-year old boy named Sumimura Yoshimori who is faced with the task of keeping his country safe by preventing the Ayakashi (monsters/demons) from invading their land.

Yoshimori shares the redeeming task with the help of his longtime friend, Yukimura Tokine, a 16-year old girl who sports a scar which she got from saving Yoshimori from imminent danger five years ago. Anyway, if this "news" holds true, we'll probably get to see the two take on adventures in the game but as of now, details remain scarce.

How much of this whole shebang is true, we have yet to find out. But this is one rumor that's still good to hear, eh? Kekkaishi is reportedly scheduled for a Japanese release Spring this year. Stay tuned.
