Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars - Image 1We've been getting a considerable lack of information on Rockstar Game's Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars for the DS, and avid fans of the franchise only have a webpage with the game's logo as confirmation that the game does indeed exist.

However, there's a survey that's been rumored to make the rounds among the gaming crowd lately, supposedly testing the waters on how well the gamers will receive Chinatown Wars.

Apparently, the survey mentions key details about Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, some of which are quoted below:
  • OPEN WORLD: It takes place within an open, real world environment. You will have the freedom to navigate a massive map, explore a world with changing weather and traffic patterns, smart Police and pedestrian AI, and choose different missions to play at any given point in time.
  • MATURE STORYLINE: This is the story of an outsider navigating the criminal underworld of a major city. You play as a young gang soldier involved in the internal power struggle for control of his gang.
  • AD HOC MULTIPLAYER: With wi-fi connectivity, players can play each other head to head in four different game modes, including a race (seven different race maps, can race with all the game vehicles), and play co-op modes.
  • LENGTH OF GAMEPLAY: 70+ missions, 20+ hours of straight gameplay—with significant replayability on top of those 20+ hours.
  • STYLUS BASED MINI GAMES: Missions include a wide variety of contextual mini-games, such as assembling a sniper rifle to complete an assassination mission, and smashing locks and hotwiring cars to steal them.
  • REPLAYABLE MISSIONS: A feature that allows you to jump to any completed mission from a convenient menu and play them again.
The questionnaire then asks the survey participant to grade each of the above mentioned game features, and then asks the following question in the final item:

The title of this new game is called Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, by Rockstar Games. Now how interested are you in buying the game?

How about you? How interested are you in buying the game if the above-mentioned gossip tidbits turn out to be the truth?

UPDATE: UGO has taken down the above info from their article. We wonder why.

That's just my opinion though. "Now how interested are you in buying the game?" gave it away for me. It seems like it's coming from someone who's trying to prove that the game is awesome to a bunch of skeptics.

But it could be real. Those features sound pretty cool. And I think that all the GTAs should've come with a mission select feature.

If this game turns out to be big, I'm hoping for a Wii-based GTA. Remember all the wackiness of San Andreas and Vice City that people complained was left out of GTA4? I'm thinking we'll see something like the old GTAs comin' out in the near future.

I can vouch for that survey as i took that exact survey. It's by some gaming/survey company named Bowen Industries or something of the sort. Usually in the survey it says you cannot talk about disclose any of this information and to keep it hush hush. That's why it was taken down.

Sign up for it. You can get some prizes through it. I won a copy of Harry Potter somehow. Sadly my dad already owned it lmao. It doesn't hurt. Also the survey's tend to be about games coming up or just way down the line. I took a survey for Stranglehold before. It's pretty awesome though

Yeah, but this is different that an NDA signed by an employee. If someone works for you and goes running their mouth off, they can easily be sued. For this sort of thing, posting publically available knowledge, it is mostly an empty threat. That is why whenever someone sends smokinggun.com a nasty legal email with a "Do not share this information or be sued" clause, the first thing they do is post it on their front page.

It's more likely that Rockstar sent UGO a cease and desist order, and UGO doesn't want to make Rockstar pissed at them and skip them on reviews. So they cave like a wet paper sack. Nintendo and EA do this all the time: Bad mouth one of their games, and you can kiss the free game related gifts that show up in the mail goodbye.
