Rumor: Dev kits for new DS shipped out to studios

The next DS?

Both Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata have confirmed that new hardware is being developed. They never specifically mentioned a new DS, but that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from turning.

Citing unnamed sources, French gaming site GameKult is reporting that some studios already have dev kits for the new Nintendo handheld in their possession. No particular development studios were mentioned, although a CVG report mentions that The Pokemon Company is the only third-party studio to receive a dev kit.

This new DS will allegedly sport HD output and motion sensing. It's been rumored before that it will be shown at GDC next month, but according to CVG's source a March announcement doesn't fit with Nintendo's timeline for the new handheld.

Could be cool if they do it right. Perfect DSi backwards compatibility but enhanced graphics for new DS-2 only games.

HD ouput keeps catching my eye. I'm assuming you just mean a higher resolution screen but I keep envisioning some kind of HDTV out or something. Or even two of them assuming the new DS has two screens too. Whoa, that would be cool.

This handheld war is going to be awesome. The rumors of the PSP2 sounds good. Too good, almost scary. I'm imagining it eating my eyes and hands if I stared at and held it too long.

hopefully they dont kill ds multiplayer games
