Rumor: David Jaffe working on a new Twisted Metal game?

After David Jaffe posted a shot of an internal email he sent, details leaked about a new car game he's working on. He may have blurred the pertinent details, but there's always someone with mad photoshop skills out there who could work around it - to some extent at least. What they managed to unfog leads to a car game, now speculated to be a new Twisted Metal game.

David Jaffe's email - Image 1

Judging by the "dragging him behind your car" and "when he is launched out of a car" lines found on the email, the new game definitely involves cars and violence - two things that we love about Twisted Metal, although we never really launched anybody out of the cars - except for Brimstone's Special on TM Black, that is. As far as "dragging him behind your car" goes, maybe there's gonna be a tow truck with that kind of Special attack?

The email basically says that Jaffe wants improvements for the car game, which seems to be a little stale right now that it needs to feel more like an action movie. As it is, the Twisted Metal rumors may just be the result of missing a great title, and this new car game may be an entirely new franchise. We might find out more on E3, because the email mentions a milestone at the end of the month.

I'm not too convinced that the new car game would be a Twisted Metal, but damn, Minion would look so sick on this console gen.

New Twisted Metal was confirmed when the latest TM for PS2 came out; check the easter egg.

Jaffe's been hinting around about a new game for months. It makes me want to play Twisted Metal Black again.

it is only a matter of time until PS3 get's its twisted metal on....it's one of Sony's better franchises, they'd be stupid as f*ck to not release it...I just think they are probably waiting...they don't want to release all their big name games in the first two years of the consoles life....

Youo know, I was very sad to see that the PS3 was the first Sony console to launch without a Twisted Metal. What was worse was that it seemed as though Sony tried to allow Sega to fill in the blank with Full Auto 2. Very sad indeed. What was worse was when they announced Jaffe's new car game and it turned out to be Calling All Cars. Awesome game, but no next-gen HD Twisted Metal.

I'm gonna cross my fingers again...
