Remake rumors went wild a few days ago with the ominous gold and silver confetti balls on Japanese TV show, Pokemon Sunday. As it turns out, word on the street had it right - Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver will both be getting out of their pokeballs and back in action in their new remakes.

Having sold over 23 million copies worldwide, Gold and Silver have apparently decided that they have not caught-'em-all, so they're suiting up for one more hurrah, much like what happened with Fire Red and Leaf Green. The remakes, named Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver, will be making their way to the Nintendo DS as part of the franchise's tenth anniversary.

As far as release dates go, this one's expected to drop in by Autumn 2010. The remakes will, of course, have features that the originals do not. I can already see the DS flying out of the shelves for this one.

» Only 23?

Wow, Gold and Silver only sold 23 copies? That's... not as much as I was expecting. I have them both, I might go run 'em down to the old auction if I'm holding 2 out of the 23 sold :P.

» yay

Nintendo gives us some more remakes, this is so great, I'm glad Nintendo cares so much about the fans and isn't just creating ports and remakes of last gen games to make easy money [/sarcasm]

» Hopes shattered on another proper version of Pokemon

We never saw one on the N64, never saw one on the Gamecube, don't you think we deserve Gold and Silver on the Wii + the graphics from the boring "lets spend another £40 on something we could already do in the first place" that was the Stadium games?

Not that i have even played in years, this is why.

» They're geniuses at marketing

Think of all the money they made on the Wii, passing everyone.. They're geniuses. They saved money on hardware, plus selling Wii remotes and nunchucks separately along with releasing the Classic controller and the Wii Zapper and whatever else they have.. People actually spend more money on a Wii in six than they do on the initial purchase of a 360 or PS3, it's just like an extended payment.

Not like I have anything against that, I think it's brilliant.. The idea is to give what will sell, but not FORCE people to buy it. blkthunda is right, just don't buy the remakes. Personally, I am glad they are remaking this game, and they can remake whatever they want.

» no argument here

they are geniuses, not only are they making tons of money but their hardly spending any of it, they are now remaking the same game for a 4th and 5th time (Gold, Silver, Crystal, and these 2) not to mention that this series has basically been the same game since red and blue. By now these pokemon games got to be pretty cheap to make and they sell insanely good whether their remakes, new game, or just the same game with a different name.
