Road Rash remake - in the works or in the trash?

With the way Electronic Arts included the classic Road Rash games on EA Replay way back in 2006, plus the Road Rash trademark they filed back in August of this year, you'd think the publisher was set on bringing the bikes back on the road. Unfortunately, the game is currently not in development, or so the official word says. This video, however, says that it used to be.

Given that EA must've abandoned development for the game, the vid is nowhere near close to completion, but it already looks promising. Hopefully, that August trademark is a sign of good news. This is definitely one rash I won't mind having.

This one didn't make it:

That's looks coooooooooool!

I don't mind the lack of textures. Kinda reminds me of Mirror's Edge.

» hey dude

do you have uncharted 2 i got it yesterday im seeing if anyone wants to play online

by erict7862 - 2009-10-10 06:29
» Nice!

I remember the first Road Rash. I didn't play it until it got to PSX, but it was great. Going from rat bikes to the pro bikes, beating up bike cops and stealing their botons, and knocking off other players. I would def buy a remake of the game.

well if this is true, then EA just gave up having me as a customer any time soon...

Are you stupid? What does Uncharted have to do with Road Rash? You probably can not find anyone to play with because the release date is Tuesday. Freaking noobs!

Road Rash was a good game but just a high def remake probably wouldn't do well now, but if they gave it stuff like crash replays, a 60+ player open ended online mode and a decent weapon selection i'd go for it any day.

Looked pretty decent. Would have made a great PSN/XBLA release.

I liked the original Road Rash games back in the 16 bit era but unlike a lot of games from that time I just don't find it that fun anymore. The one in that video there looks alright though.

» Sweet Zombie Jebus I want this

I remember buying Road Rash II for the Megadrive and buying a 3DO on the strength of Road Rash and Need For Speed, this looks fantastic.

They cannot be serious not developing this to completion.

I reckon this would be a nice alternative to the manifold GT and Burnout clones doing the rounds at the moment.

Come on EA, you've invested millions selling us complete muck, spend a little more to bring us something classy, please?

» Unless I'm missing something, this isn't even FROM EA.

I must be the only person who actually clicked on the video and checked out the original on YouTube. Under video info it says:

"Animation pre-viz I created for potential roadrash."

So unless this guy is working for EA, this ISN'T a video of a half developed game, it's just a FAN WORK.

It's pretty damn good though. I'm just in disbelief how whoever posted this article could think it's real without simply reading the info.

Well, it's the internet. Not everyone bother to check their sources

Gotta say he's one damn good animator though.

by BiigBiscuit - 2009-10-10 16:06
» @Magneto

I agree. The user that uploaded the video is an animator. If he doesn't work for EA, this is merely fan work and it surely looks like it.

Holy crap, that bike is fast. They better keep it in development!

The plus sign should have been an equal sign, at least that's what I typed. Hope this doesn't make ME look like a noob. lol.

» uh..

I remember having this for the gameboy color and it sucked.

I think it was this game, I'm pretty sure it was.

by DarkXCloud - 2009-10-10 17:45
» This one..

This one looks pretty good! I hope they add in a lot of content. These are one of those games that require a lot of content and lacking it would give low ratings.

» I SO WANT THIS GAME

it reminds me of the first one but heaps cooler looking hate how development teams are starting to cut projects now, its disappointing but yh what can ya do....haha noob replies about uncharted 2, than another noob tries to bash noob about being noob by replying to the wrong comment XD

by Stealth! - 2009-10-11 06:22

FINISH THIS GAME.

by Newcastle989 - 2009-10-11 09:43
» saturn anyone?

I used to buy every road rash as soon as it came out. Anyone remember road rash on the sega saturn? that game was soooo intense, you had to pick a side, the hells angels looking guys with the harleys or the euro trash with the sports bikes. Then you got to see live action videos of people fighting on bikes between stages. You could also go around the bar after the race and talk to your compatriots, if you beat up on one of them tho he/she will be pretty hostile towards you. It was great.

by ciderman - 2009-10-11 23:45
» But if the vid is a fake....

As Magneto said, this vid is probably just a fan vid, in which case there is no Road Rash for the current gen consoles.

Not good...

But then it's a while since there was a proper update to the series.

Hardly surprising that EA are keeping the IP, the name and the rest in their ownership, but as for a 360/PS3 version,

I guess we'll just have to wait, and keep fingers crossed!

Road Rash on Megadrive/3DO/PS1= good

Road Rash Jailbreak and the rest on PS1/GB/GBC= muck
