El Hobito's homebrew Return to Tyrian for the DS is a pseudo sequel to that game so it basically uses the same gameplay. This first release features the following:
- 1 v short level
- 1 weapon type
- 1 enemy type
- 2 AI methods
- 1 player type
- 2 sounds

I've been waiting for a tyrian port/clone for years for a handheld! I LOVE tyrian!
