PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and DS demand stats in Japan |
Ó
The next gen war is now on, as the much-awaited PS3 and Wii have consecutively launched in various parts of the world. As such, predictions are continually being made, flamewars thrive probably even more, and various statistics just keep on coming.That's right. If you're talking about a commodity, you can't escape the subject of numbers, and these stats will inevitably enter the conversation whether you like it or not. And this article's all about numbers, and is entirely based on findings by the Japanese game organization, Computer Entertainment Software Association. Oh yeah, you might want to take note that all the respondents are Japanese.
Basically, the said group found out a rise in consumer interest on the Wii, which shot up from 20.9 % (around this time last year) to 48.9%. Its competitor, PS3, garnered 57% of consumer demand, as opposed to last years' 64.4%. Last year, 23% responded that they would go for the Xbox 360, now the said demographic trickled down to 13.6%. Those interested in the DS went up from 13.7% last year to 31% this year.

damn japanese hait microsoft (xbox) tsk tsk wnder wye ????????
Hahaha.... those japonese don't know what they're missing out.
Looks like Japan still dislikes Xbox. What happened to Blue Dragon? Wasn't that the "trojan horse" for Microsoft?
Xbox fans don't worry about this survey means absolutely nothing for starters this survey probably took months to be put together which means it is OLD news it does not tell to how the Japanese gaming community feel about xbox 360 RIGHT NOW. The Japanese are not bias toward xbox or microsoft they are simply waiting to see some good Japanese games on the system. In Japan 3 types of games sell the most, those are Action, Rpg and Sports, Xbox 360 is not selling well because there is no AAA Japanese games for the system, now that has changed, the recently released dead rising is doing well in japan, also konami's winning eleven soccer, and with the upcoming lost planet and blue dragon being released before the end of the year along with good third party support, microsoft has the 3 genres covered and then some. Proof is in the sales, xbox 360 has been selling roughly 2000 units per week since launch, the playstation 2 in comparison sells roughly 20000 per week (1:10) just recently xbox 360 sold 6500 units in a week (1:4) a big improvement in my eyes, why?, because the AAA Japanese games are finally coming out.
MS lost japan before the 360 even launched. Let's mvoe on shall we?
The US and Europe are the prime battlegrounds. How bout some news from there?
@post number one
Maybe they think we are a bunch of idiots who "can't spell no good?"
Who cares, its from Japan so its obviously not gonna be a fair place for statistics since 2/3rds of the consoles come from Japan (Nintendo and Sony)...
Try the UK if you want a true survey.
A true survey of the interests of the Japanese public?
I had play the Wii ... its the better video game I've ever played ... its incredible, PS3 will lost this time. Sure!
