PS3 launch fails to slow down DS games sales |

Now that the PS3 has landed in Japan with the kind of deep impact associated with big meteors, it was believed games for Sony's next-gen would explode in the sales charts. Not quite. According to Media Create the games sales chart for the PS3 launch week (November 17) remained pretty much Nintendo DS territory.According to Media Create's compilation, only two PS3 games made it to the top ten list. Both from Namco Bandai and both at the tail-end. At number 10 is Kidou Senshi Gundam: Target in Sight (21,310) and just ahead of it is, Ridge Racer 7 (21,655).
Meanwhile, ruling at the top is Otona no Joushikiryoku Training DS selling an astounding 102,240 copies in seven days! Less spectacular but just as impressive is Pokemon Diamond (78,744).
So less than 43,000 people bought PS3 games but more than 88,000 bought the console on the first two days alone. Does that mean half of the Japanese PS3 owners are sitting at home and watching their PS3s unplugged?

I have a feeling it's gonna be a very nintendo christmas for the japs. Very suprised ridge racer wasn't higher on the list.
PS3s are rare, so not many people could buy the games as they haven't got anything to play on and the other half are on ebay for some ridiculous amount. I'm not saying that later on PS3 will dominate the charts, but you know what I'm getting at....I think.
If they gonna say something, they should say something along the line of PSP fail to slow down DS sales because they're both Handhelds. Saying that the PS3 launch fail to slow down DS sales is dumb. It's not like the PS3 was made to combat the DS. It should be compare Wii's sales or 360's sales, and not DS. It's like saying, the PS3 launch fails to slow down the sales of cars. WTF?!

I wouldn't imagine that the PS3 would stop anything from selling games. Its a crap console, made by a crap company and the sooner people get used to it, the better.
Wow this guys are really smart. They only sold 43,000 games, as....les remember there were more than 2 games on launch date? The fact that they are not on the top 10 doesnt mean they didnt sell. I think resistance sold like 17000. Sometimes I wonder how some of you guys get to post the news on the blog.
