Pokemon Diamond/Pearl characters to teach students science |
Ó
Nintendo of America, The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), and
Nortel LearniT teamed up to bring cute creatures and personalities from the Nintendo DS
titles Pokemon Diamond/Pearl to elementary and middle school students for them to learn science in a
fun way. From now 'til December, lesson plans will be filled with
characters and themes from Pokemon.Students will figure out how to tell time using a sundial, understand how the universe is expanding, and learn more from fun activities with the guidance of science experts. Of course, there will be Pokemon monsters and characters to make the lessons lively.
NIA is counting on Pokemon to "enhance the learning experience for students" using imagery they're familiar with. "We're honored to have our characters take what sometimes may seem like dry topics and help make them come alive for students," said Nintendo of America senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison.
This isn't the first time Pokemon will help educate students. Back in March 2007, the Pokemon Learning League was established to offer homes and schools with lessons brought to life by Pokemon characters. Some know Ada the Math Mission Guide, Lex the Language Arts Mission Guide, Quinn the Life Skills Mission Guide, and Siara the Science Mission Guide from this subscription-based program.

Oh no, not pokemon again. I am getting sick of Pokemon games!
I'm a huge lover of the games in general, but the TV shows are getting pretty disappointing. We all remember the good old days when Ash sounded more like a girl and he had the big battle with Blaine on Cinnibar Island. Yes, you guessed it, I am a nerd. Anyway, I am still wondering how the characters can help teach school classrooms when the girl is in a mini-skirt up to her.....ya, and they speak at about 2 mph. An anime semi-fighting show has just become a weird presentation on how to solve the problem 2x-5=3 and why the Earth is round.
