Pokemon Black and Pokemon White announced for the DS

Pokefans rejoice! Nintendo has announced a new set of Pokemon titles that will soon invade its handheld platform. Coming to Japan later this fall, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White will be the 5th generation installment of the Pokemon franchise since the 2006 release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl on the DS.

Gameplay details are a bit sketchy at the moment but you can expect more info soon when the games official site gets updated.

I am a huge fan of Pokémon but how many more of these are they going to come up with lol. I don't mind to be honest with you... actually I think its great! And cannot wait for more information about these titles to be released!

One thing I would like and as like many others probably have said also, is a Pokémon game with a 3d free roam environment! Now that would be awesome!!!

Do you mean like Pokémon Colosseum? Which was essentially a full on 3D game unlike the original top down views, this was to an angle like the newer games on DS but definitely a full on 3D.

Maybe not be as "free" as you would want but I do understand what you are asking for, but I think having the semi-multi-linear path for Pokémon is where it gets the adventuring and awesomeness from.

That's like saying "Why can't I have a Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero and a DJMAX Portable where I can import my own custom songs?" Because if you could do that then newer games would be obsolete and players would just import the new songs and play them on an older game.

Same with Pokémon, players would have no need to upgrade (in a way) because everything they have is already with them.

Anyway, I loved all of them up until crystal. After that, they just kept adding more, retaining less, and doing remakes. I really want something that actually has it all, kinda like gold/silver/crystal at the time.

Dear god, are they running out of names for Pokemon games? I mean, they can avoid all this controversy (or humour at least, with the players) by calling it Pokemon something-other-than-colour. Or call it a colour OTHER than "Black" or "White"; it's just going to make Pokemon a laughingstock!

Can't wait for the game though.

The problem with pokemon is each game is the same. You choose a starter from 3 pokemon, you have a rival, you collect gym badges, you fight a whole bunch of master trainers in a row at the end of the game.
They add in some story elements, but it always feels like a side story to the main purpose, beat the elite whoevers, become pokemon master...

Considering Japan gets new hardware from Nintendo first, usually in the fall, then USA in the spring, could this not be a 3DS launch of pokemon?

I honestly hope it is because I'm sick f the DS graphics that have ruined good pokemon games.

I think they should make a Pokemon game where it's basically a "chose your own destiny" type of thing. like you can become a gym leader or and elite whatever, or join a "team" and be bad, or something like that. and you could chose any first level Pokemon for a starter
