OtaClock RC1 - solve the math prob first before shutting this one up |
Ó
Nintendo DS users are usually limited to using the Nintendo handheld's own built-in alarm clock feature (save for few homebrewed alternatives) if they need to wake up at a certain time and there's no other gadget to use as an alarm. But not anymore - check out the OtaClock RC1, an alarm that is guaranteed to wake you up by requiring you to make use of your brains. The OtaClock RC1 is whipped up by homebrew developer madcat1990, based on the official Konami desktop accessory OtaClock for the PC and Mac. In its homebrewed DS incarnation, the OtaClock requires DS users to solve a math problem first before the alarm can be shut off.
Unfortunately, unlike the Nintendo DS's built-in alarm clock feature, the OtaClock doesn't operate when the DS is on sleep mode (DS closed while turned on). This is quite an oversight: you would have to leave the DS turned on and open after setting the alarm for it to go off. Of course, it'll probably drain your batteries - not really ideal if you want something to wake you up after several hours of sleep.
However, if you just need a timer, the OtaClock is most certainly a cool application to use. Do check this out, especially if you're an Otacon fan. As always, just download the file from the link below and just copy and paste the .nds file in the Games folder (or root folder, depending on how you set up your DS homebrew device) of your favorite homebrew card. Enjoy!
