On Shelves This Week: March 15 to March 21, 2009 |
Ó

It's the handhelds' turn to shine this week, with both the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS getting their share of big-name releases. In the PSP's corner is Bend Studio's Resistance: Retribution, the third entry in Sony's Resistance franchise. Meanwhile, DS gamers will be getting their first taste of a GTA title for the DS thanks to Rockstar and 2K Games' Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Resistance: Retribution - Continue the battle against the Chimera in this PSP entry in the Resistance franchise. World War II may not have happened in James Grayson's world, but mass destruction on a worldwide scale remains humanity's fate, and retribution against and eventual conquest of the Chimera are the player's goals.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - The Grand Theft Auto franchise finally hits the DS in a big way. The largest DS game to date, Chinatown Wars lets you explore most of GTA 4's Liberty City as you search for honor, riches and revenge in the most dangerous and morally bankrupt city in the world.- Nintendo DS - March 17, 2009

Or has the DS been lacking in quality titles? I bought the DS to play some of the awesome ports (Mario Kart, Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros), but recently the titles have been kind of shotty.
Chinatown Wars will hopefully amuse me until they port something ridiculously amusing like Aladdin for the SNES
The only games on the DS that appealed to me were it's Castlevanias except for the seemingly mandatory DS gimmicky bits in it. I might like GTA on DS but I already have enough of those on other consoles to get through.
Overall I far preferred the Gameboy Advance to the DS as a handheld machine, at least in it's earlier years before becoming drowned in shovelware.
