What are you getting for Christmas? If you answered, "Nintendo Wii!" then the marketing fellows of the console giant have done their job.The folks at Nintendo announced at a marketing event in London that they intend to put their game platforms at the forefront of Christmas wish lists everywhere. To that end, they've set aside a total of £ 12,000,000 (US$ 22,000,000) for promoting the Nintendo Wii and the DS for the Christmas season. This will include television and cinema ads, as well as a lengthy press campaign and additional chances to try their game consoles before you buy.
They've split the advertising program into two halves, with £ 6.5 million heading to pre-Christmas advertising for the Wii and the DS, and £ 4.5 million for January to March post-holiday buying sprees. What this means to gamers, especially in Europe, is a greater chance of seeing the Wii wherever you go, but also more Wii kiosks to try the games at. Sounds good, doesn't it? Let's just hope there are discounts involved.

wow im getting one
Got a nice new large LCD arriving Wednesday and my Wii arrives on the 8th December :)
Going to be a super fun family xmas of all of us playing the Wii, can't wait.
I'm gonna get my Wii the day it comes out (I pre-ordered the day after launch details were set), and accessories and games for Christmas. I'm probably gonna get Wario Ware - Smooth Moves!, 2 controllers, 2 Nunchucks, Zelda, and Red Steel.
