Nintendo loves to recycle - Image 1Nintendo is not only kid friendly, but also environment friendly. Sithmaster15 from website Go Nintendo claims to have received a reply from a Nintendo customer service rep answering his question on how much Ninty loves the environment.

Here's what Nintendo said, verbatim:

Nintendo is very concerned with doing our part to help preserve the environment. WeÂ’re always researching new products and procedures to make our products and operations as environmental-friendly as possible.

Some things Nintendo is already doing:

In our offices:

  • We recycle the paper we use company-wide.
  • We limit our use of colored paper, since itÂ’s not easily recycled.
  • We purchase recycled paper towels, report covers, message pads, and writing pads.
  • We currently recycle more than 70% of the waste that is generated at our headquarters.
  • We actively promote the recycling of aluminum cans and glass in our corporate cafeterias.

In our products:

  • We use at least 80% recycled paper in all of our shipping packaging.
  • We no longer use Styrofoam in our game pak or Game Boy packaging.
  • All of our instruction manuals are printed on recycled paper.
  • We no longer use plastic Game Pak covers.
  • Our clamshell packaging is recyclable and most recycling centers accept it.
  • We require that manufacturers not use any banned substances (such as lead, mercury, etc.) in components, nor use them in the manufacturing process for any components used inside of our products. This requirement also extends to suppliers of packaging, marketing materials, and other items used in the marketing and distribution of our products.
Well, props to them for caring about Mother Earth. Given that gamers aren't likely to even throw a wild guess that their instruction manuals are made of reused paper, Ninty is doing a great job. Among the next-gen consoles, Wii is also reported to use the least energy to run. May other companies in the industry follow suit.

» Manhunt 2

Guys its not Nintendo that banned Manhunt 2.

Why are you blaming them?

It is good that a big manufacturer of a massive product base is thinking about the environment. Although it won't be making a lot of difference, it is something.

» Agree with Pimp With A Limp

Mario was great when I was in school, but know that I'm an adult I'd like to be able to play games that don't target a young and/or holier-than-thou audience.

» Manhunt 2

They might be blaming Nintendo because it was Nintendo who couldn't stand up to a bunch of mothers too stupid to read the back of a game box. So they passed on Manhunt 2 for Wii.

Yeah, sure Nintendo are recycling paper, but its the Consoles that pump out the Greenhouse gases, so not so great really.

» tripple what?

I'm a 38 year old man, an actual one, not a retarded 12-year-old posing as one, and I couldn't care less about Manhunt 2 or any other AO game. The only people who are up in arms about too many "kiddie" games on the Wii are teenagers, plus a few fratboys and mentally challenged adults.

by Gryff33 - 2007-06-25 13:01
» You guys are *****ing morons

Nintendo passed up on Manhunt 2 for the same reason Sony did: they don't want AO games on their consoles. Does that mean Sony only caters to little kids too?

» Power..

"Among the next-gen consoles, Wii is also reported to use the least energy to run."

Side note, it would be great if you could completely TURN OFF the wii (without plugging it out) instead of having it all the time in Sleep mode. Same thing for the PSTwo, I'd really like to turn it off when I don't use it. For some reason, they want their consoles to use power even when we don't use them? -_-
