Nintendo staying the course, will leave price cuts to Microsoft and Sony |
Ó
It's been a head-on collision between Sony and Microsoft the past week with their own respective price cut announcements. Oddly enough, Nintendo remains sitting prettily and quietly. Have they got no plans to launch their defenses in light of the current happenings? Apparently, no, they don't.
Said Denise Kaigler, Nintendo of America's rep, their status quo will be remaining unchanged.
Our focus has always been creating fun and engaging game-play experiences. Because of that focus, Wii has been the best-selling video game system in the United States for two years and counting.
It offers the most fun and the best value for consumers. Wii can be played by every member of the family the moment it comes out of the box. It's the only console that offers the option of precise motion controls right now, with the Wii MotionPlus accessory. And Nintendo systems are the only place you can play new and classic Nintendo franchises.
Wii games that will be on people's lists through the holidays include Wii Sports Resort, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Nintendo offers something for everyone.

Why would they? Nintendo don't have any reason to, they aren't competing with Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo's trying to aim for new, (very) casual, and retro gamers. Microsoft and Sony couldn't care less about those markets.
Wait till Natal and the PS3 motion controller come out, and the following influx of games similar to what the Wii has. Then, and only then, the price will plummet.
I laughed out loud when he said the wii was the best value. What a crock of $hit.
The gamecube has much better games and costs $20 used.
Since EVERY SINGLE Gamecube game WITHOUT EXCEPTION can be played on the Wii, oh well? You get access to the entire gamecube and wii catalog of games for $250 plus the gc controller and memory card.
Though I truly believe by now the Wii should of been lowered to somewhere around $150-200..... owning the wii and a nice computer seems to be the best bet right now. That covers almost every game released this generation except a few ps3/360 exclusives (which I'll be getting a ps3 to get the few I care about).
nintendo is a bit *****y right now. i cant wait to see the position nintendo is in next year around october or november of 2010 when ps3 has their better motion controls which is more accurate and precise than the wii motion plus add on to the wiimote and when the nintendo wii sales are even lower than they are now . the honeymoon is coming to an end for the nintendo wii and the casual gamers dont buy multiple games like the hardcore gamers so it will be interesting to see what nintendo will look like in late 2010 and 2011.
ps. the talon stands for talented
