GIANT DSi! - Image 1

It appears that Nikkei may have jumped the gun on that new DSi model that we reported about yesterday. According to Nintendo, the Nikkei piece is just "conjecture".

Following reports of the new DSi model springing up in the past couple of days, Nintendo told Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, "We conducted no interviews. We believe it was an article based on conjecture."

What Nintendo didn't do, however, is deny outright that there's a new DSi coming. The Nikkei newspaper also has a pretty good track record when it comes to stuff like this (gaming blog Andriasang notes that they even broke the story on the DSi last year first), so Nintendo may just be waiting for the proper time to make an official announcement. Wouldn't be the first time.
