Nintendo not increasing monthly Wii unit output despite holiday shortage |
Ó
Despite the looming production problems for this coming holiday season, Nintendo has no plans of stepping up their monthly Wii production output, according to Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata. Nintendo will keep the current 1.8 million unit monthly output for the meantime, even if Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime reported a possible Wii shortage in the US at the end of this year.Iwata also said that there are no plans of a price cut for the Nintendo Wii, with the motion-sensing console still maintaining a high revenue return in the current console race. In order to compete with its rivals Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo is planning to sell the Wii Fit game and accessory come the holiday season.

Nintendo has gotten their noses stuck in the air. Sony and MS will catch up if Nintendo lets their guard down. Frankly i like Sony more cause of the upgradable hardware, and i like a evolving console. The wii is nice but nintendo is starting to get ahead of themselves. The wiimote will get boring over time imo.
Like I've been saying, Nintendo is creating this shortage intentionally. They want another holiday season of hard to find consoles to make the Wii the "must have" gift for the season. If there's rarely any on store shelves, everyone must want one! It really must be worth $250!
I really hope their plan backfires and Sony and Microsoft whoop Nintendo's undeserving ass. I know Sony couldn't re-release the PS2 with a new controller and sell it for $250, then sell out for over a year, so why can Nintendo?
