Satoru IwataJust when you thought Nintendo was still resting on its laurels after the success of their Wii launch, here comes something that shows the company is still gearing up for next year.

According to the JoongAng Daily, Nintendo is getting ready for an aggressive push into the Korean gaming market in 2007. At a press conference for Korean reporters at the company's headquarters on Thursday, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said that the company is planning a Korean-language version of the DS Lite. The said version is supposed to hit Korea on January 18.

Future games will also be up for localization, of course. Iwata also revealed that the Korean language version of Nintendo's Wii console, which isn't available yet in Korea, will be available late next year.

"We will begin sales after localization is complete," he said. "We plan to actively support Korean game software developers who have great expertise in developing online games and support their advances into foreign markets."
