Nintendo FROWNS. Now there's a statement.

With Nintendo of America bringing Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl to these shores in late April (as well as European shores via Ninty of Europe later on), and based on what they've told Kikizo, they will NOT be happy if they find Japanese versions of the game over at those mentioned shores. Begin quote, Robert Saunders of Nintendo of Europe, to Kikizo:

We in no way condone the importing of games into territories other than where they are supposed to be sold... As in the past, if deemed necessary we will issue cease and desist letters to retailers whom we know are selling imported games not intended for sale within the EEA. Nintendo rigorously protects its worldwide trademarks and in doing so ensures fair play in the market for all retailers.

End quote, enough said. Importers have had their warning.

Uhm..

Nintendo, if you're so upset.. Stop making your stuff region free?

solution

well if THEY would just release all versions at the same time we woulden't have a problem

NoE doesn't quite "get it" do they?

Who cares what Nintendo of Europe thinks? If Nintendo wanted to outlaw game importation, Nintendo of Japan would attempt to stop it at the source.

.....wow....

plain retarded. importing allows not only more consumers for a product, it allows for the advertisement of an outside game that could show that it's series could be the next big hit. again as stated, if they didn't want importers to....well....import, why make the damn thing region free? sometimes, game companies make no sense.

Haha

The "buy" link made me laugh, because if you buy it there you would import it after all. :P

Nintendo, hush!!!!

Nintendo, will you shut up ? You can't tell us what to do. If we want to buy an import games then we will. It is your fault you decide to use region lock on on wii and many consoles in the past. You idiot, stop telling us what to do. GET LOST!!!!!!!!!!!

what the ??

You guys a morons. Bithing like little school girls about someone who is wearing the same skirt as you are. Nintendo, Sony, and yes Micrsoft themself dislike importing. It's not them or the retailers that get any of that money it's all just indepentant peeps who want a quick buck. Yell all you want but the fact of the matter is importing is a no no and should have an end to it.

.....wrong

If importing is such a no-no, then American DS users wouldn't have as many games as we do now. Quite a few games have made it this way just due to the popularity rate of importers. Elite Beat Agents thus being the most recent example. Another is the Naruto games for gamecube (which are still in the process of finishing up the fighter series on gamecube before the switch to wii) and a few others (even on gba).

Dear Nintendo Europe

Maybe if you actually released DS games like, say Starfox Command, Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Metroid Pinball (all of which are still to be released over here) within a few weeks of US release rather than months afterwards then we wouldn't have to import. But until you do, then we'll all keep importing until you sort yourselves out.
