With the release of Nintendo's 3DS just literally around the corner, more and more details are coming about it, albeit still in tight trickles. Nonetheless, whatever we're getting from it all sound really good so far. The latest session of Iwata Asks yields some more of these information goodies, particularly about video-recording functions.
Reported Andriasang, Shigeru Miyamoto was quoted to have mentioned the bit about Iwata tweaking the handheld's 3D photo feature to accommodate a video feature. Satoru Iwata, for his part, chimed in and said that if they were going for that feature, then it would just have to follow the release of the 3DS, most likely by way of a firmware update.
It's still no confirmation, definitely, but the fact that it's been brought up hints heavily at it being seriously considered by the company. We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything concrete.

For example, Nintendo promised to release a DVD playing Wii console early on after the Wii launch.
Since nintendo failed to honor their promise, homebrew made up for that and released a Wii DVD player.
Also the Wii is the first nintendo system to have updatable firmware. Was this so new features could be later added? Nope, just half-assed security updates, removal of mp3 support, and USB keyboard support since every Wii owner needs that....
I think 3d movie recording/playback will only be possible after the 3DS is hacked.
