Nintendo DS Grabs Major Role as Ultimate Spy Gadget in Stormbreaker |

Move over Xbox 360 and make room for another console with the acting bug - the Nintendo DS. The DS is set to make its motion picture debut in Stormbreaker, an upcoming teen spy thriller, as a game console souped up to be the ultimate spy gadget. The new movie takes place after 14-year-old spy Alex Rider's uncle and guradian is murdered. During his training, Alex receives his main spy gadgetry: a Hot Rod Red Nintendo DS. This special edition DS has several game cards that transform it into an eavesdropping device, a wiretap detector, or a smoke bomb.
"Along with writer Anthony Horowitz, we asked ourselves how the Secret Service would get secret tools into the hands of a 14-year-old spy," says the film producer. "Nintendo DS is the perfect fit: Alex's spyware hides in plain sight. Audiences will be thrilled to see how it helps Alex get out of a host of heart-pounding predicaments."
Nintedo called the film apperance of the DS as "a perfect marriage of two hot entertainment properties...(but) unfortunately (we) have no plans to make any DS spy-related functions available to the general public." Well, that sucks!
Stormbreaker, scheduled for release in the the United States on October 6, stars Alex Pettyfer as Alex Rider, with Sarah Bolger, Robbie Coltrane, Stephen Fry, Damian Lewis, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Sophie Okonedo, Missi Pyle, Andy Serkis, Alicia Silverstone, Ashley Walters and Mickey Rourke.
