Nintendo DS Browser Dated for European Release |
Today, Nintendo released a press announcement stating that
the new Nintendo DS Browser will be released this coming October 6, with
a price of £30. The browser has already been released in Japan only a few weeks
ago.
There have been several people attempting to pirate the browser and change
the language as there was no announcement of the browser's release date in the
UK or the US. Now, these pirates can put that translating aside and pick up a
fresh copy at their local store his October in Europe. There was no release
date set for the US at this time though.
The Nintendo DS Web Browser will revolutionize the way we look at Nintendo
products. The NDS was thought of only a gaming system when compared to
the PSP, but things are changing now. With games that teach you how to cook to
a web browser that you can use, the NDS is becoming more of an everyday tool
than a now-and-then handheld gaming system.

I really can't see this taking off, the screen is just too small. Hell, even the PSP's screen is too small.
Not just the size but also the speed, for essential Internet browsing on the loo I'd rather use my PDA.
yup the screen is too small, but this is obviously not meant to replace regular browsing. More for specialised web apps like email, rss, weather, news, etc.
That said, i'm still waiting for a homebrew solution that works with my other homebrew apps. This thing takes up both the DS and GBA slots, and makes it impossible to say, download ebooks/music/tvepisodes/games straight to the DS in future.
I wasn't aware of the fact it took up both of the cartridge slots.
What on Earth does it use the GBA slot for?

RAM
The GBA cart is used for extra RAM, this is why many pirates have had trouble trying to pirate it, but theoretically it can be done on some flashcarts, but no one has succesfully done it unless software support comes out from the flashcart developers.
The browser really isn't ideal as it is much slower than the PSP's browser (which is fairly tolerable for browsing), so this isn't your ideal browser to browse QJ.net on ;)
I don't bloody think so
any one know when we r ever gonna get this????
Anyone know if the RAM cartridge will be available in black and white, to match the DS Lite case?
I think the main appeal of this is for people that mainly want a DS for gaming, but would find it useful to be able to get on the web at a hotspot when out and about, or travelling, or whatever... I'd be willing to put up with some sluggishness just for the convenience of not lugging a PDA or a laptop around just for web access.
