Nintendo DS also gets 1seg TV tuner |
Ó
Not to be outdone by the Sony PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo DS handheld video game console is also getting its own 1seg TV tuner. In case you haven't heard of it, 1seg is a Japan-only mobile terrestrial digital audio/video and data broadcasting service. It's also available for mobile phones and the aforementioned PSP.
The Nintendo DS 1seg tuner gives the handheld a more old-school feel than the PSP's more compact attachment. The tuner plugs into the DS's cartridge slot and rocks a pair of rabbit-ear antennae. Video shows up on the top screen while the touch screen acts like a remote control.
The Nintendo DS 1seg tuner will launch in Japan on November 20. The suggested retail price for this accessory is 6,800 yen (about US$ 60).
