Nintendo dominates "Golden Week" in sales (again) |
Ó
Japan's definitely enjoying their holiday week, especially Nintendo which topped and dominated the gaming charts. Weekly sales data prove that, still, the top 21 games sold are either for the Wii or DS, all but six being Nintendo titles.
Square Enix takes the the lead with Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings selling 109,000 units, which is nothing surprising for a game that sold 180,000 copies in one day. Aside from Momotarou Dentetsu DS: Tokyo & Japan, everything else on the top 10 is a Nintendo title. Super Paper Mario comes a close second to FFXII: RW with 90,000 copies sold, followed by Wii Sports that falls behind by just a few.
Surprising enough, there were no Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 titles in this "Golden Week" top 30. Does this mean Nintendo's victory in the console wars? It's up to you to decide, but Ninty's marketing strategy obviously worked.
