Having trouble getting your Wii online? Well, Nintendo's reportedly coming out with a new bit of kit that might seem redundant at first, but should definitely make connecting easier.

The company has announced the impending release of a "Nintendo WiFi Network Adapter" which should make it easier to connect to the internet. The router can actually be used with the Nintendo Wii, the DS, as well as PCs and other devices that require a net connection, though we're assuming that it's specially tuned and developed with the Wii and DS in mind.

The adapter has a switch on its back that enables three modes, Router, Bridge, and Auto. Router's probably the usual mode you'll be using as it's the one that would normally allow you to get an internet connection on your Wii. Bridge Mode enables users to connect to another router, which will then communicate with your DS and Wii. Auto mode, on the other hand, automatically switches your network for you.

The adapter will go on sale in Japan on September 18, and will sell for 5,800 yen (US$ 53). Keep checking QJ for updates on this accessory, and let's see if it heads to other territories in the future.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

This kind of pisses me off. So instead of FIXING the horrible WiFi they have on their devices, the solution is to have consumers BUY a fix? Nintendo WiFi has always been horrible! I have a specific second WiFi point in my house just for my DS. It was just an older WAP laying around. If I didn't have free solution I wouldn't have anything at all.

FFFFF

I honestly never found a problem with Nintendo's WiFi, besides all those brawl problems. I think this is for people that don't have wireless internet or something like that.

SO is obligate to use this Expensive 53 Router?

Or you could buy a cheap one or use the one you have at home? Well Soon coders will figire that out, don't they? n_n!
by darkfrost - 2008-09-09 08:29:25
That's the point...

No, you can just use this one if you're having problems with your router, or don't have one. And wha? $53 is expensive for a router? Half the routers i've seen in the uk, are like... £50.. which is $100...

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Most Nintendo devices only support WEP which is the LOWEST security found in today's devices. You would have to either be ignorant or have nothing else if you are running WEP. If it was ONLY for a game console and you NEVER transmitted important data (credit card number) then it would be fine. But even then you risk someone hijacking your internet connection. Any monkey that can download a free app can break your WEP key. In addition to that, I've personally come across a FEW routers and WAPs that a Nintendo device wouldn't talk to even on WEP.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

I can't speak for the UK but here in the US, yes, that's expensive for a cheap Nintendo product: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item(EQUAL SIGN)N82E16833124010+Tpk(EQUAL SIGN)WRT54G Here's a cheaper (by a tiny amount) router that I'm sure has LOADS more features. Be sure to replace (EQUAL SIGN) in the URL above with an actual equal sign.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Great! Mr. Common Douche Bag is back... Which I see, he voted me down even thought I bashed a Nintendo product which only further proves he's nothing but a bag of douche! Plenty of respectable convos have taken place this past week and more. Looks like that will all go down hill again!

ha

Actually, I had no problems connecting my Wii console to my router. I just miss bashing the Wii sooo much!

WTF!?!?!?!?!

That's why everyone calls you a douche bag!
by Mister Common Sense - 2008-09-16 19:28:22

No, you call me that because you have never succeeded in your life goal of proving me wrong.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

HA! Just because you've been gone for a while doesn't mean everyone's forgotten. Nice try though!
