New Blue Dragon DS title announced |

A new Blue Dragon title for the DS has reportedly been announced in the pages of the latest Famitsu issue. According to NeoGAF member duckroll, the new title is Blue Dragon: Ikai no Kyoujyuu (Behemoth of the Underworld). It's set for a 2009 release in Japan. This time, the main protagonist isn't Shuu but a player-generated character. The game sports full-featured character customization and visible equipment and weapon change. The main characters in the series will still be around, but it doesn't look like they'll be playable.
Changes have also been made to the battle system. It's still real time but "doesn't look like a complete action RPG". Apparently, players will be able to map commands onto a hotkey bar just like in MMOs. Further adding to the MMO feel is the game's multiplayer mode which will supposedly support "many players".
Blue Dragon: Ikai no Kyoujyuu is a joint project between Mistwalker, Bird Studio, and Namco Bandai. Tales series producer Hideo Baba is handling production duties. That must be why the details reminded me a bit of Tales of the World.
