MSN Messenger On the DS

MSN MessengerThere's been previous speculation about the Nintendo DS' capability to connect to MSN. With this entry in Thoduv's devblog, he proves that one actually can have a secure SSL connection through which one can access the contacts list and online status, as well as (perhaps this is the best part) one's  MSN Messenger.

There are still some problems though with getting messages and with the connection itself. The Dswifi TCP is said to be a bit too unstable to correctly support the SSL connection. The DS also can't receive some data sent by the server.

According to this developer, maybe the solution to these problems would be to test MSN's compatibility with the DS when the next Dswifi is released.

Still, it's good news that the DS can be connected to the MSN browser at all, so let's not knock it (not too much, anyway).

Most of the people I chat with online happen to be American and use MSN Messenger...Gawd, why are we even arguing over this?

Anyway, I am glad that somebody is working on a chat client for the Nintendo DS, please keep up the good work and get the bugs ironed out ASAP.

There are more countries than USA, also lots of Americans use MSN (Windows Live Messenger).

MSN is very popular in Europe, but ok.

I cant wait till this tech is developed more. Having a program that connects to irc, msn, aim, y!, and browses websites in a multitasking environment would be pretty amazing. From the sounds of it, it woudlnt be too unreasonable to assume something like that is on the way.
