Target saves lives. The folks at Gaming Angels really did a bang-up job of following up their original lead. Strangely enough, it's official: Target will be donating funds for breast cancer research.

Earlier, we mentioned that Target was giving proceeds of pink DS sales to support breast cancer research. It had been making the rounds on bulletin boards and other places, but there wasn't much vital information on it. There also didn't seem to be any mention of it on their website, so we remained skeptical. More information was sent in by Target personnel and so we now have a clearer picture of what's going on.

Target's donating $300,000 for the research, with most of it going to support Dr. James Ingle, MD, of the Mayo Clinic, in furthering treatments for the cancer. To help get the money, of course, they're selling a variety of pink items (not just the DS) from different manufacturers to further benefit breast cancer-related organizations.

If you'd like to see the full info from Target, click on "Read." In the meantime, if you've got a hankering for a new DS or pink boxing gloves (we're serious), now would be a good time to grab some goodies for a cause.
