Miyamoto asks "What does Nintendo mean to you?"

Shigeru Miyamoto asks

Snooping around Yahoo! Answers while searching for a Nintendo Wii, you might have come around this little official question that Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto himself asks. Looks like the game development guru needs a little "tapping the market" for future development. Or he could be suffering from the same dilemma Eiji Aonuma has been with his revival of the Zelda franchise.

So is he going through a midlife crisis? Oh wait, at 54 you sorta had to trudge through a few of those... If he's worried about Nintendo's reputation, that's sort of pegging him pretty high on the modesty meter. Anything with his sweat and blood on it, turns to ornate gold. With 4306 answers (a huge jump from 4220 just a few minutes earlier) and rising, the question is grabbing a lot of positive feedback. That's not to say that there have been a couple of negatives hushed here and there.

If you haven't already, lead ol' Shigeru back to the light and give him your two-cents worth for his question: "How old were you when you first heard the term, "Nintendo," and what does the name mean to you now?" Jump right over to the Yahoo! Answers page by clicking the "Read" link below.

Wii!!

I was 4 when I got a NES it was awsome. I played nonstop for hours a day. I wish I knew the rest of the games that I played besides the usually super mario bros.. You'd have to be in a closet all day to have an NES with no mario.

Nintendo sucks a$$ nowadays

I thought of Nintendo as the biggest and best game devs back in the days of 24X68 pixels, now they are like some disease that wont go away,a flu,a cancer if you will, that have grown old and have lost their mind, their whole company depends on kids and japs,i have owned and played a wii/gamecube/64/snes/nes mind you,and my verdict as of now is that they didn't make any improvements to anything they do,they still use their 20 year old marios and yoshis, nintendorks think the PS360 puts out rehashed trash? jesus christ look at what nintendo makes, fact is if they made the wii instead of the gamecube back in the last-generation they would still reign supreme, but they didnt, nintendo sucks, just listen to the name for gods sake, repeat it to yourself and realise how dumb it sounds..NIN-TEN-DOW,WII,now Xbox 360 and Playstation 3,they aren't any better but the graphics beat the wii on hundreds of levels. Nintendo=Greed

Nintendo means greed and short changing the customer. Always has always will. They could have given the Wiitards a true next-gen system, but instead they recycle their failed technology so they can make a buck. It is lazy and shows a total disregard for gamers. Sony losses nearly $200 on each PS3 they sell so that they can give their massive fanbase the best gaming experience possible. I wish Nintendo, Miyamoto, and all the stupid N-tards would just die and take their lame Mario kiddy games with them. What have they ever done for this industry? Sony constantly revolutionizes gaming, while Nintendo just finds another way to rip people off. They are no better than a bunch of con-artists.

Bias for systems is the lowest form of opinion -_-

I love how comments have insults in them and usually come from lack of well educated individuals... I first heard nintendo with the SNES. Didnt own one, personally, but my father did. Ahh, such fun it was then, and still is now when we break it out time and again. As for what nintendo means to me now? It means, to me at least, the one gaming company that has satisfied me the most in gaming. Sure, some games werent good, but a lot were. The Sony systems, though fun, just, didnt seem AS FUN as Nintendo products did and still do (I LOVE my DSLite)

of course

Kids and Japs aren't people :).. and there's something wrong with doing games traditionally.

what?

sony doesnt revolutionize gaming. Oh wow, good graphics... i dont care about graphics as much as game play.

you must be Kidding!!!

remember the analog stick... i bet you do... the n64 had it first and then sony stole the idea to make the duel shock for the play station... the triggers and bumpers on the n64 and snes... was put on every console ever since... and now the motion sensing that Microsoft tried in the early 90's is basically what the wii is about... sony said its a gimmick right... then why did they need to put it in their controller? face it with out nintendo games would never evolve past graphics... there here for a reason to make progress go along... and there here to stay... if you look at all of the world top selling games you'll be surprised how many are Nintendo franchises... ps... Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo before making the xbox360... they wanted to have Nintendo make a console for them... can you say Wii60 ftw!!!

Nintendo

Wow when i think about it i was about 4 maybe 3 when i first played nintendo. I fell inlove with it instantly. Some of my earliest childhood memories were of me playing nintendo. What does "Nintendo" mean to me? It means good old times and great memories. Like it or not Nintendo has revolutionized the gaming industry. Every other console now days have taken an idea or principal from nintendo. They might not have awsome killer graphics, but nintendo has always concentrated in gameplay rather then anything else. I dont know about u but i play games bc they are fun not because they look pretty. Nintendo = great
