Luke Smith, a news editor at 1UP, had something interesting to say on his blog. After expressing his frustrations of not being able to reveal any news due to NDAs, he dropped a bombshell of an announcement that's seen a flurry of speculation."A game you never expected to see as an MMO is about to become one - and it's not coming to the Revolution."
Why did he specifically mention the Revolution? This opens up one of three possibilities.
A. It will be a third-party game that seems Nintendo-y, but will be on PS3, PSP, and/or Xbox 360
If it's this, I'd say Sonic might be a good guess. Sonic games have sold very well on the GCN compared to the PS2 and Xbox, and IIRC there were plans for a Sonic MMO years ago that got scrapped. Or maybe Harvest Moon?
B. It will be a Nintendo Franchise that will be on the DS
If Pokemon becomes an MMORPG, I will actually buy my first Pokemon game since Stadium 2 for the Nintendo 64. However, Pokemon is something people have been asking for as an MMORPG for quite some time... I'd also be a bit disappointed that it wouldn't be done on the Revolution instead. If it's a Zelda MMORPG, I'll probably cry. Zelda needs to stay single-player. A bounty-hunting Metroid one would be interesting, but the character designs in Metroid Prime Hunters left a lot to be desired. A Mario MMO would just be plain whacko...
C. The Revolution comment was to just throw us off or fake altogether
In which case Luke Smith would be a sadistic bastard ;_;
Whatever it is, it'll likely be revealed at E3 and QJ will be there to see for ourselves.

I bet the reality is that he meant to say "a game you never expected as a MMO is gonna be one." and "it wont be on Revolution" as two seperate entities. So The revolution comment is just indicating its on 360 and PS3, while the other bit indicates its a franchise that isnt expected to be MMOed.
Unless I'm mistaken, you aren't an industry insider who talks to Game PR people every day. So your "inside news" is likely just pure BS. We don't report on that, sorry.

In other news, Sony revealed they will be releasing A game for the PS3 late next year!

If it's really a Nintendo project I doubt it'll you'll ever see one of their key franshises move to another console. When I say key franchise...I mean Zelda, Mario etc characters they've made and owe their success to. Im not sure about a sonic game tho... because sonic is comming to the PS3 and 360 anyways... so it's not like it'd be a huge shock. Umm Pokemon is... possible... but again a pokemon MMO isn't a huge surprise... and it's gamefreak who makes the pokemon games... not nintendo. Umm Im stumped lol... maybe it's got nothing to do with nintendo and the rev at all, instead he just meant that it wont come to the rev.

Alright it could be coming out on the PC. IF any of you guys ever thought about it, why would nintendo let a franchise go to the ps3 or 360. PC i can see that, but not the other systems

Harvest moon already announced that they are making an MMO.
its already a defined series.
it was probably a multiplatform game on current gen, and this next gen it wont be on the Rev.
so maybe we should look for good selling Multiconsole games?

WoW would be a game that everyone would think to be an MMO, since it already is one, so I'm pretty sure that's out for what he's referring to.
And I'm pretty sure that he threw in the Nintendo comment to say that it's not a Mario, Zelda, etc... MMO. There's been lots of rumors going around lately that one of those franchises is getting that treatment (esp. Zelda's four swords online game that keeps coming up). By saying its not for revolution, I think he was trying to say that its a PS/XBox franchise that's gonna get the MMO treatment.
But I'm not an insider, so I could be wrong.

#16, MMORPG is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. MMO is just a short-hand way of saying it. MMORPGs are games like World of Warcraft, Ragnarok Online, Everquest, and Maple Story.

A pokemon MMO would be insane... Every kid in the world would play and be addicted to it... not to mention if they did well on the game... many MMO players would play it too.

If someone were to make a Halo MMO, They are really stupid.. Even if its for the PC, Because if you didnt know, Halo comes with a thing called 'Halo Live' Using 'Xbox Live'.I dont even think a Fanboy would make one. Theres explanations, Easy ones for a Zelda/Mario/Pokemon/Whatever MMO... What if... They mixed all the Nintendo and some of the Third party games up into one MMO? That would be Pretty cool. Especially if it was a Success. If it were sidescrolling that would race the 'Coolity(xD)' Of the Game. There are only about... 4 Sidescrolling MMO's, And Only one of them is Decent, Maple Story, And it takes along time to download, And has multiple Bugs. Anyways a Mixed Nintendo and Third Party game MMO Would be cool.
