For a few months now, rumors have been circulating that LucasArts is making a Wii Star Wars game that lets you use the Wiimote as a lightsaber. *Woomph* *woomph*. It was given even more weight when a sacked LucasArts employee supported the rumor.

Well they are rumors no longer folks, looks like the game is actually Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the video game adaptation of the CGI film that's set to be released sometime this year. The game is also coming to the Nintendo DS (no wise cracks about waving the stylus around as a lightsaber now).

The official trailers for the game will be released sometime tomorrow, so watch out for it. Here are details about the NDS and Wii versions.

You must develop the relationship between these two midi-chlorian filled personalities so that they can generate more powerful attacks and special abilities.

You can replay missions with different combinations of Jedi Master and Padawan to unlock different areas and collectibles. The Lightsaber will be controlled by the stylus, although not by swinging it around.

Lightsaber game for Wii and DS: Star Wars The Clone Wars - Image 1Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels for the Wii will have you reliving the awesome fight scenes we'll get to watch in the CGI film. What's more, you'll get to wield the Wiimote as your lightsaber!

You can play as a number of characters, and you can even choose between hero or villain, from Anakin Skywalker to General Grievous.

Imagine if they got the lightsaber simulation down perfectly, with the buzzing of the saber coming through the Wii-mote speaker, and when you move it, it does that *wom* noise...

That'd be sweet. Wish we could also use the Nunchuk to use the force to throw stuff at each other. Wishful thinking on my part ^^
