Since news about this Final Fantasy XII spin-off has reached us, we have long been waiting for the day when Square Enix will finally tell us when we'll be able to get this lovely game on our DS. After all, anything that concerns Ivalice is fine with us.

There hasn't exactly been an official release date until now, but at least we have this new batch of in-game screenies from Jeux-France to help tide us over. In Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, we still have Vaan and Penelo, while our favorite pair of sky pirates will also be making its appearance, as these two people pick up where they left off at the end of FFXII. Meanwhile, is it just us or have the cactuars and mandragoras gotten even cuter?

In any case, even though the Japanese menu in the screenshots show the staple in the FFXII battle menu (including gambits and Mist Knacks), the game is actually aimed at people who are not familiar with other FF games, and promises to remove "overly complicated elements from the battle system...that will allow (the player) to defeat the enemies with minimal controls".

Hmm... a new spin of a great story, the attempt to introduce (or re-introduce) players to a well-loved setting, and easy controls to boot? We can't wait.

As long as they leave out the useless magic system. Everytime you cast an offensive spell, the enemy moved right in the middle of your party to cause splash damage on them. That was wack.

You have to think though. I mean how many crazy AAA titles can come out for a handheld! Can't wait to add this one to my collection
