Japanese Goes FF12 Crazy, Animals Crossing Makes it to No.2 |
Ó

Final Fantasy XII (PS2) bucked the bad luck that plagued its production with high opening week sales numbers. It raked in over 1.7 million in sales duplicating sales of its precursor, 2001's Final Fantasy X. But DS titles dominated the top10 with 7 including Animal Crossing DS and the Training series. The frog themed, tongue-twisting Chou-Gekijou-Ban Keroro Gunsou: Enshuu Dayo! Zenin Shuugou, a new DS game broke into the top at no.10. The hits for the week of March 27 are:

Photo is of FF9, but image name says FF12? 12839_FF12hggjhjhjhff.jpg
And where does FFX-2 fit in if X is 12's prequel?
Ah nevermind, they're supposed to be covering the DS here.
First off, while I would love to see more DS games rise the charts, VERY nice to see that some things never change. Warning - I'm not a FF fan boy; I just knew that XII would sell well even if it was wrapped in construction paper.
On another note, someone needs to check up on their source materials here. Either the author of the post or the source itself:
First off, FFX, being FF TEN, is by and large, NOT a prequel to FFIX, being FF NINE. Assuming we are talking about FFXI instead of X-2 (for whatever reason), then the reference to X as a prequel is more acceptable (even if talking about 10/11...).
One wonders, though: was this careless, a typo, or sheer ignorance? I really want to know...
DS fans who are fearing the loss of the top of the charts, fear not: with Mario, Zelda, and the supposed FFIII DS (not to mention half a dozen other, Japanese exclusive hits like, oh, Xenosaga DS), we need not worry over this. Wait a few weeks...
Should read Final Fantasy XI bucked the bad luck.......
XI = 11
IX = 9
Get it right. It's not that hard.
but we all make mistakes, besides its nice to see the ds dominating the charts yet again :)
Unless Alaric S has edited his post he says FFX is the precursor to FFXII which is correct as FFXII is the first "proper" FF game since X. If he's said prequel then yeah that would be the wrong word, but I don't see a problem with precursor.
Yeah, it was edited. But even "prequel" isn't wrong - regardless if the stories of the games are unrelated. Same series, earlier number = prequel.
The roman numerals WERE wrong, and are fixed. ;)
