Ubisoft's Jam Sessions is a guitar simulation game for the Nintendo DS. If you want to take the experience to the next level, you might want to check out the Performance Bundle of the game which comes out on November 11. It includes both a retail version of the game as well as a portable guitar amplifier which you can plug into your handheld. So far, the developers have only announced three game modes - Challenge mode, Tutorial mode and Free Play. The song list is pretty solid which should make Challenge mode an enjoyable experience while more experienced musicians will probably be having more fun with Free Play.
