Is DS Lite Prejudiced Against Gamers With Giant Hands?

Yes - that's if you ask the Nintendo section editor of Pocket Gamer. In the course of doing his job, which means playing games on the DS Lite for hours (he gets paid for that?), he ends up with nasty looking red bruises on his palms. Something he doesn't get with the regular DS. The condition is worse when he's playing fast-moving action games that use the shoulder buttons a lot. He says his palm takes a couple of days of not playing to heal. He thinks the DS Lite was designed for smaller Asian hands and not for people with palm that spread wide enough to cup Richard Simmon's butt (not that anyone would want to). Or maybe it's how he holds the DS Lite? Anyway, having freakishly small hands, we are happy to report this has never happened to us!

If you can't stand your hands being blistered by gaming for several hours, you're not fit to play games. *****.

Well if the moron wouldn't smash the DS into his palms like that...

That's why you have a pinky, ring, and middle finger... TO HOLD IT...

the only game that ever hurt my hands after extended play even on the old DS was Mario Kart. But even that wasn't THAT bad and I found several different ways to hold it so my hands didn't cramp too much.

youre hands dont even need to be big. My hands are average size and I think it sucks to hold. Its to thin, edges are to...edgy. It has nothing to do with size, it has to do with the way its designed, PSP is small but its comfortable. It needs to be more rounded off. Thats the DS Lites only flaw.

I have the largest hands out of any of my friends and family (and no, that doesn't make me gay, lol) but I've ABSOLUTELY never heard of this! What type of idiot doesn't know how to hold a DS? I own a few, including a Lite, but I've never gotten marks on my hands or felt pain after extended play. This guy has gotta be weaker than Mr. Burns off of the Simpsons. What a wuss.

Now wonder DSLites are cracking. Hold with fingers, not with palms. Mystery solved.

If the DS Lite is too small for your giant mutant hands, DON'T GET ONE. Easy.

Now, as for me, I'm still waiting to see when a blogger will finally catch up on the news and post some of the now old information about Pokemon Diamond/Pearl.

QJ bloggers suck!

pretty much says it all. The only time I got marks on my hands like that was with the original NES controllers, the rectangles with sharp corners, while playing a wrestling game where you have to push the buttons really fast...and even then it was like after 1 1/2 hrs of playing...

My hands are big enough that a PS2 controller is too small to be comfortable. And yet I have absolutely no problems with the DS Lite. He needs to learn to game.

I actually have this problem

it was one of the reasons I stopped playing Mario Kart. I have Hot Rod Red DS.

I would play MKDS for hours on end, and found my hands to be extremely sore afterward. I stopped playing the game and the pain resided. I would get the bottom right corner of the DS gouging into my palm because of its sharp corner. I wish that someone would make some sort of a soft grip for the DS - and I heard the Lite's corner is even more brutal. I do have reasonably large hands, and thumbs. I want a DS Lite really badly, but all I have to do is just keep my playtime down to less than 5 hours :P :/

Don't get me started on the pain that is Metroid Prime Hunters....

"If you can't stand your hands being blistered by gaming for several hours, you're not fit to play games. *****." - Some Moron.

If that's the kind of rhetoric that you'll so shamelessly spew from your ass, then you don't deserve to be considered a thinking, cogent, cohesive human being, you tart!

Well I'm not retarded. I'm just bored. That's why I read these articles. I guess you're right though - I don't have much right to complain.

enables you to grab the DS with both left and right hand at the same time while using the stylus -> comfortstylus.com, recommend it!

If the guy realises that you can't hold the DS Lite the same way you do a DS, then maybe he wouldn't get that many bruises.

yeah right, he was jacking off, and blamed it on the DS Lite. Poor DS Lite.
