Spyro 3D movie - Image 1Look, up in the sky! Is it a bird, a plane, or a geek wearing his underwear over his tights? Nope, it's a purple dinosaur dragon! Yes, Spyro looks like he's going to follow down Cloud Strife and Claire Redfield's footsteps: from video games straight to their own CGI movie.

See the picture on the right? Click it to make it bigger. That's supposedly the teaser poster created by the movie sales company, Velvet Octopus, who bagged rights to bring Sierra Entertainment's game franchise to theaters.

Judging from the rendered Spyro with his classic pose, it looks like he toughened up quite a bit for his silverscreen debut.

For some reason, I'm slightly uncomfortable to see "From the producer of Eragon" there at the top.

Unfortunately, other than this poster, there's no new info that's been released for the movie. Via Kotaku, to recycle what we know so far (none of which are official though), The DarkSpyro fansite lists a December 2009 release for the movie, while IMDb has superstars Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman reprising their voice roles as Spyro and Ignitus for the movie, as they did for the game.
