How To Spot Pirated Nintendo DS Cartridges |
Ó
And they should be because the pirated copies and the original ones look almost the same now.
Pirated games are also turning up everywhere, and unfortunately, there are those who can't tell the fakes and the original ones. Even cartridges for Nintendo DS are being pirated! Fortunately for us, there are ways to spot the fake cartridges so that we won't have to deal with the problems they're sure to cause us like crashing savegames, poorly-constructed carts and second-rate manuals.
Here are some of the things to look for:
- Poor quality printing of label - Pirates will not spend much on printing fake games' labels with high quality printers.
- Label placement - The label sticker should be centered and aligned properly.
- Label is sometimes incorrect - Certain pirated carts use different label artwork compared to those used in the original ones so make sure they're the same.

- Logo and text at the back of the cart should be vertically-centered - Logo and text should be placed higher than the center.
- Black contacts - At the back of the cartridge, you should be able to see metallic contacts, not black contacts.
- Sunken text and enlarged logo - The original carts have smaller and more subtle logo and recessed text.

as long as the game works 100% perfect then i dont care if its pirated
I hope they'll be confiscated.
where would u find these tho ive never heard of pirated cartridges
Do you buy your carts at a flea market in China or something?? Most people buy their carts in a STORE where they can pretty much not worry about getting a fake cart. And they have some recourse, if it IS fake.
I work in a games shop and this reminds me of a similar case on gba games - some had nintondo on the back, poor quality label and alignment,
But they dont get past me so neither will these abominations!
I think this may be useful, even if you aren't copying games, the encryption has been cracked so you can use something like this to create your own games and publish on DS game card. Of course you just have to make sure it will fit.
