A user over at NeoGAF was tired of his new shiny Black DS Lite being screwed up by fingerprints. The next two posts, told him to sandpaper it. Was he being serious? Maybe not, but the user went ahead and did it. Not only that, but he took the words of some other users to heart and made both before and after pictures!

If you're tired of fingerprints and want a less shiny DS Lite, you might want to look into these pictures. If you want to do a cleaner job than what this user did, you should use wet sandpaper and a buffing machine. This will give you the best results. But enough about that. Scroll down if you want to see all the pictures. We should warn you, it's not pretty. However, the final product ends up looking really nice.

The above pictures are how the DS Lite looked under a lamp and the tools he used to take off the gloss on the DS Lite. As you can see, the DS Lite was so glossy that his camera could focus on the reflection of the lamp on the DS Lite!

The above pictures are how the filing went and how the file looked as dust settled on it! The pictures below are of the DS Lite outside before and after the operation was completed!

What a waste. Such a beautiful ds ruined. If you don't like fingerprints get the screen protector by hori. It covers the front with a plastic coat and as long as you dont have airbubbles it looks nice.

Flat black has always been cooler than gloss. Well done, don't listen to 13 year old naysayers

# nicely done, Nintendo learn from this!Guest 2006-09-21 04:43
The fingerprint issue with the PSPs was exactly why I bought a white DS lite. I couldn't bear the thought of fingerprint hell. I've no idea why Nintendo went away from the flat/satin finishes they've used for so long, I guess they're just trying to make an impression on all those people brainwashed by iPod looks...

i don't ever plan on buying a ds but i have to say it looks a hell of a lot better with flat black than it does with glossy black. sum1 should try this with their psp and if it looks that good i might even do it to mine

# it looks ok and is reversibleGuest 2006-09-21 09:59
if youu have a problem with your ds and need to take it back all you have to do is polish it with a polishing mop or some polishing compound like G3 or even some T-cut like solution and it will look as good as new
