Halo DS is real, more details next week, says IGN |

The Halo DS project may have been nothing but vaporware - canceled and left deep within the inner crevices of Cortana's fiber optic network - however, IGN promises to reveal more details about the demo they played earlier this year.As GameStooge points out, in a recent IGN podcast (06-15-07), editor Matt Casamassina once again brought up the subject of Halo DS. It's just a very quick comment, but right around the 38:00 mark of the podcast, Casamassina says that Halo DS is:
a real gameÂ… It was a Halo on DS! And it never made it to the light of day, for whatever reason. That reason was most likely Microsoft or Nintendo...
But a lot of people just don't believe that. We're gonna lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that that is a real game. You guys are about to be owned - all you nay-sayers.
Some may have thought that IGN being able to play a build/demo of the game was just a hoax. Now, maybe we can actually confirm that.
Next week isn't all that far off anyways. It's already the weekend, so we've only a few days left to really find out. "Finish the fight," or so says Halo 3. Finish the rumor, more like. I actually would not doubt that this news could be real.
MS does not have its own portable.
BUT! If they wanted a little boost in sales, I'm pretty sure releasing a game on a portable (Even if its not its own.) would be a huge benefit. (For both parties, MS and Nintendo. Increased Software sales for both MS and Nintendo, and Hardware sales *Though, they are already doing good.* would still increase.)
So I say its very possible.

i can see why micorosft is doing this also so i think it is real. This gen their main competitor isnt nintendo its sony, and if they can have nintendo otusell sony even more in the handheld market im sure that will put an even bigger smile on their face.
What a good way to get kids away from their DS and on to xbox 360.... time you load up the game... there should be a "come check out the real halo" only on xbox 360!!!!
Front mission 1st, etrian odissey, métroid, big brain, mario+mario kart, advance wars, castelvania, lost in blue 2, hoshigami, elite beat agent ouendan 1/2, bleach 1/2, and many more mohass05 are coming (zelda this month...). MS has supported DS and GBA through other outlets such as Rare for one as it can only help them make a few bucks since they have no interested in handhelds. There's plenty of evidence they do so that kind of kills those dumb comments on this thread. Saying that a game like Halo would be awful and unplayable on this format is even MORE laughable considering you know...how many Metroid Prime Hunters players there are that (sarcasm)endles sly ***** how bad the control is, how hard it is to see anything, and now overall unplayable that title is.

It wouldnt suck because look at metroid----the controls woul dbe awesome. It's easier on the DS than the PSP. The DS replaces use of analog stick with touchscreen. By the way this is going to be sooooooooooo cool. I'm getting it.
First of all, microsoft cannot control Bungie in a free-market economy called USA. They can control maybe halo 1, 2 or 3 but not a port on a handheld. Contracts can be broken...this is entirely possible. Besides.. the ds outsells every single console out there. I don't see why they wouldn't. It is a great idea. They'll make lots of money too cause of the amount of ds owners.

I had Metroid Prime Hunters, it was actually good. Even though the online part had glitches, it showed me that a FPS would be great on the DS. I own a psp, but its main down fall is the control. WHY, I always ask myself, was the analog thing put on the left? That is why I could see this as true. I think if this actually is developed..well then SOny fanboys are going to be pretty mad. Jus tlike the 12 year olds writing negative responses in a language known as engrish.
Metroid hunters was good, but it still needed working on. I hope the devs for Halo DS perfect the idea behind Metroid and give us the best FPS ever on a handheld. That shouldn't be too hard of they get it right and learn off the Metroid mistakes. Besides, ms has very little control of what Bungie does, and I can explain the whole free-market economy thing and litigation process, but I dont' think you wanna hear. The point is, it is possible.

I agree that this game would probably be horrible, and most likely just a money making scheme. I think if this was made for a portable device that the ds would be the right choice, because the control scheme would work better for aiming. PSP is not really much of a portable gaming device. I have both a PSP and DS Lite, and have played nearly every game for both. I must say that the PSP game library is pretty bad. I play any PSP game for 5 mins tops, but play the many DS games that keep coming constantly for hours on end. I agree with you if you say PSP is a better portable device, but it is not a better gaming device by any means.

Just use a thumbstrap to aim(comes with game), and then you can use ABXY too. Wifi could be 4 people with lots of bots, it could have 8-16 player download and multi-card. It could be a spin-off based on the books, or a port of Halo 1. Or it could be a Halo Wars-like RTS instead.
